Akshay Bhatia, a filmmaker hailing from Georgia and currently based in Atlanta, has had a distinguished career in the film industry. His most recent and notable role was serving as the personal assistant and directorial apprentice to the renowned filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola on the project Megalopolis. Throughout the entire production process, from pre-production to post-production and ultimately the film's premiere, Bhatia played a vital role in ensuring the project's success.
As part of his duties, Bhatia was heavily involved in directing and writing scenes for the film, working closely with Roman Coppola, director of the second unit. The two collaborated extensively, with Bhatia frequently assisting Roman in rehearsing the numerous practical special effects featured in the film. Additionally, he worked alongside Mike Figgis, director of the critically acclaimed film Leaving Las Vegas, on MegaDoc, a behind-the-scenes documentary that chronicles the making of Megalopolis.
Beyond his work on Megalopolis, Bhatia is also the director of the short film The Preakness, which has been touring festivals and features a talented cast, including Jeffrey Pierce, known for his role in The Last Of Us, and music by the renowned electronic music artist Dan Deacon. Furthermore, Bhatia is currently developing his debut feature film and is set to produce an untitled zombie film directed by the respected film critic Scout Tafoya and executive produced by Mark Pellington, director of the thought-provoking films The Mothman Prophecies and Arlington Road.
