Biography

Aidan Turner, a talented Irish actor, was born in Dublin, Ireland in the year 1983. After completing his education at the Gaiety School of Acting in 2004, he began his journey in the world of theatre, performing in numerous stage productions, many of which were held at Ireland's national theatre, The Abbey. Some of his notable performances during this time include The Plough & The Stars, Romeo & Juliet, and A Cry from Heaven.

As his career progressed, Turner made the transition to film and television in 2008, taking on a lead role in the film Alarm and a co-starring role in the popular Irish TV drama The Clinic. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in his acting career, which would see him take on a variety of roles in both film and television.

In 2009, Turner relocated to the UK, where he landed a starring role in the acclaimed BBC series Being Human. He played the captivating character of Mitchell for three seasons, during which time he also appeared in Desperate Romantics and the top-rated TV movie Hattie.

In 2011, Turner was cast in the role of Kili in Peter Jackson's film adaptation of JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit. The highly successful movie trilogy was filmed in New Zealand over a period of two years, during which time Turner also appeared in Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments.

In 2014, Turner was selected to play the iconic role of Poldark in the BBC remake. He was the only actor considered for this charismatic hero, and the series premiered to excellent ratings in the UK in March 2015 and in the USA in June 2015. The show also aired across Europe and Australia and returned for a second series in 2016.

In addition to his work on Poldark, Turner has appeared in a number of other projects, including The Secret Scripture, in which he worked with his favorite director, Jim Sheridan, and Loving Vincent, the first painted animation movie. He has also co-starred in the dark comedy Look Away and starred in the BBC mini-series And Then There Were None.

The third series of Poldark aired in the spring and summer of 2017, cementing Turner's status as a talented and versatile actor.
