Ai-Ai delas Alas, a renowned Filipino film and television actress, was born on November 11, 1964, to Rosendo delas Alas and Gregoria delas Alas née Hernández. After her parents' passing, she was adopted by her older aunt, Justa delas Alas. Ai-Ai earned a mass communication degree from Far Eastern University in 1985.
Before her acting career, she worked as a sales assistant in a department store and performed as a stand-up comic in comedy bars around Metro Manila. She was married to actor Miguel Vera, with whom she had two children, and also has a son from a previous relationship.
Ai-Ai delas Alas started her career on GMA Network in 1991, hosting the Saturday late-night musical variety show RSVP. She co-hosted several GMA noontime shows, including Lunch Date, SST: Salo-Salo Together, and Eat Bulaga!. She was also a member of the cast of GMA sitcoms Ibang Klase and 1 For 3.
Her breakthrough film was Ang Tanging Ina (2003),which became a blockbuster hit and spawned a television series spin-off and three sequels. Her latest film is Our Mighty Yaya, which premiered on May 10, 2017, through Regal Entertainment.
Ai-Ai delas Alas has acted in several movies, including Ang Tanging Ina, Volta, and Pasukob. She has also released her first album, Ang Tanging Ina Nyo, on Star Records, featuring six novelty tunes.
