Agni Raj Singh is a Los Angeles-based Writer, Director, and Filmmaker, born in Darjeeling, India, and raised in the British schooling tradition at The Doon School in Dehradun. A native English speaker, he was hand-picked as a Trustee Scholar by the University of Southern California in 2014, where he completed double degrees in Film & TV Production and Economics within the stipulated single degree four-year period.
Agni's academic achievements are impressive, with a GPA of 3.8 out of 4 in Film from the prestigious School of Cinematic Arts, USC, and a degree in Economics from the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, USC. He received the Gold Medal for the Thematic Options Honors Program and was awarded the Best Short Film at the 2016 Chandigarh International Film Festival in India for his application film, Minolta (2015).
As a filmmaker, Agni has written and directed three films, including Luna(r)tic (2016) and Requiem (2016),and has worked as a cinematographer and editor for Nice Guy (2018),a producer and sound designer for Strings Attached (2017),and a writer for The Fringes (2018). The Fringes, a futuristic short film produced by the University of Southern California, explores the takeover of Social Security responsibilities by monolithic corporations and the normalization of isolation in society.
Agni has also conceived and directed the music video for the CID and Anabel Englund single, Use Me Up (2018),a commentary on the environmental and societal consequences of rampant consumerism. The film features stock footage and VFX, making it a sustainable production with a small carbon footprint. The design component pays homage to the anti-consumerist work of visual artist Barbara Kruger.
Currently, Agni works as Creative Director of a digital media creation and artist management company in Los Angeles, USA. He is multilingual and can speak several Indian languages. His writings, whether poetry, prose, or scripting, are mostly in English. Agni is also a trained pianist and dancer.
