Adrian McLoughlin, a renowned British stage, television, and film actor, was born in 1947 in London. He embarked on his acting career in 1983, with a trajectory that would span decades. McLoughlin's most notable role to date is his portrayal of Joseph Stalin in the 2017 film The Death of Stalin, directed by Armando Iannucci.
Throughout his illustrious career, McLoughlin has had the privilege of collaborating with the esteemed Alan Ayckbourn on numerous occasions. Their first collaboration took place at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, where McLoughlin played the role of Reg in a revival of The Norman Conquests. This marked the beginning of a long-standing professional relationship with Ayckbourn, who would go on to feature McLoughlin in several of his plays at the Royal National Theatre and on tour throughout the UK.
In addition to his work with Ayckbourn, McLoughlin has also appeared at the Orange Tree Theatre in Ayckbourn's Private Fears in Public Places, which later traveled to the Brits Off Broadway Festival in New York in 2005. In 2009, he reprised his role in Taking Steps, a play written and directed by Alan Ayckbourn, at the Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond.
In 2014, McLoughlin took on the role of a lifetime at the Arcola Theatre, where he starred in a production of The Rivals, directed by Selina Cadell.
Beyond his impressive stage and screen credits, McLoughlin has also ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing his own theatre company, Vital Signs Productions. This company focuses on producing plays that feature older people, shedding light on the importance of representation and inclusivity in the arts.
