Person Biography:
Adoor Gopalakrishnan, India's most acclaimed contemporary filmmaker, was born in 1941 in Kerala, a state in south India. He belongs to a family with strong links to the performing arts, particularly Kathakali, a highly-stylized form of dance drama. Adoor began acting for the stage at the age of eight and later produced and directed over twenty plays, several written by him.
