Biography

Here is the person biography of Adam West:

Adam West was born William West Anderson on September 19, 1928, in Walla Walla, Washington, to parents Otto West Anderson, a farmer, and his wife Audrey V. (Speer),an opera singer. He had a cache of comic books at age 10 and was heavily influenced by Batman, who made a big impression on him.

West attended Lakeside School and later Whitman College, where he earned a degree in literature and psychology. He married 17-year-old Billie Lou Yeager during his last year of college.

After college, West worked as a disc jockey and then enrolled at Stanford for post-grad courses. He was drafted into the army and spent two years starting military television stations in California and New Jersey.

After his military service, West and his wife toured Europe and later joined a childhood friend in Hawaii, where he replaced him in a kiddie program. West got a divorce and married Ngatokoruaimatauaiauaia Frisbie Dawson, with whom he had two children.

In 1959, West moved to Hollywood and adopted the stage name "Adam West." He achieved fame in the 1960s as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the ABC-TV series "Batman" and its movie spin-off. The series made him internationally famous, but also typecast him and ruined his marriage.

West married Marcelle Tagand Lear in 1970 and had two more children with her. He continued to work in film and television, appearing in over 50 projects after "Batman" ended. He wrote his autobiography, "Back to the Batcave," in 1994.

West made guest appearances on the animated series "Family Guy" from 2000 until his death in 2017. He died on June 9, 2017, at the age of 88, after a brief battle with leukemia. Los Angeles and Walla Walla paid tribute to him by shining the bat-signal on City Hall and the Whitman Tower, respectively.
