Biography

Aaron Rose is a multifaceted creative professional, boasting a diverse range of skills and accomplishments as a film director, writer, and artist. He made a significant impact in the 1990s by founding the influential Alleged Gallery in New York, which became a hub for underground art and culture.

Concurrently, Rose worked as a producer and director for MTV Networks, producing on-air promos that showcased his collaborative work with emerging directors like Mike Mills, Spike Jonze, and Harmony Korine. He also produced numerous short films under the banner of Alleged Films, further solidifying his reputation as a innovative and forward-thinking artist.

Throughout his career, Rose has directed a wide range of films and television commercials, including the award-winning feature documentary "Beautiful Losers" (Arthouse Films/Oscilloscope Laboratories),which premiered in 2008 and explores the pressures of being a young artist. He has also directed short films like "Become A Microscope" (2009),a biographical piece about the life of 1960s artist and activist nun Sister Corita, and "Portraits of Braddock" (2010),a one-hour documentary film for the Independent Film Channel.

Rose's work has garnered numerous accolades, including a Golden Pencil award at the 2010 One Show for "Portraits of Braddock". He is currently working on his first narrative feature film.

As a director, Rose is signed with The Directors Bureau, a Los Angeles-based company that also represents renowned directors like Wes Anderson, Mike Mills, Roman Coppola, and Sofia Coppola.

Rose's influence extends beyond the film world, as he has been the subject of a character in the popular television series Gossip Girl, played by John Patrick Amedori. However, Rose has publicly denied any similarities between the character and himself, stating that it is purely fictional.

In 2009, Rose was hired by advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy to help create WKE, a content-driven entertainment channel and production house. At WKE, Rose produced numerous television projects, including "Califunya", "D.I.Y. America", and "Don't Move Here", which he also directed.

Rose has also made significant contributions to the art world, serving as co-curator of the museum exhibition "Beautiful Losers: Contemporary Art & Street Culture", which toured the world through 2009. In 2011, he was associate curator of "Art In The Streets", an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) in Los Angeles.

In addition to his work in film and art, Rose is also the editor of ANP Quarterly, a large-format art and culture magazine that is offered free as part of RVCA Clothing's non-profit initiative, the Artist Network Program.
