Aaron MacCarley, a creative force to be reckoned with, was born and raised in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, California. From a young age, he discovered his passion for editing videos and photos, mastering the ancient Adobe suite. This sparked a desire to pursue a career in the arts, but with a philosophical twist, and so he embarked on a journey to study at Reed College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and devoured as many creative writing courses as possible.
Following his graduation in 2014, Aaron decided to spread his wings and explore the world, first teaching English in Shenzhen, China, and then relocating to Berlin, Germany in 2016 to pursue a Film Production Diploma at the esteemed Catalyst Art Institute.
In 2017, Aaron returned to his hometown of Los Angeles, where he honed his skills working on major commercial productions and learned the art of lighting from the master gaffer, David Goodman. The following year, he made the bold decision to found his own videography business, and embarked on a European adventure, living in Germany, Spain, and Portugal, where he worked as a freelance director, cinematographer, and editor, creating short films that have been showcased at numerous film festivals across the continent.
When the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, Aaron felt compelled to lend his support to the Ukrainian cause, and in February 2023, he made the courageous decision to relocate to Ukraine to produce his first feature film, the documentary "Sunflowers in the Rain." After completing the film in 2024, it premiered at the North Hollywood Cinefest on September 13, 2024, where Aaron was awarded the Best Director for a Feature Film award, a testament to his dedication and talent.
