A. C. Thirulokachandar, a renowned Indian film director and screenwriter, was born on June 11, 1930, and left an indelible mark on the Tamil film industry until his passing on June 15, 2016. For nearly three decades, from the 1960s to 1988, he devoted himself to crafting captivating stories on the big screen, primarily in the Tamil language, while also occasionally venturing into Hindi and Telugu films.
Notably, his 1969 film Deiva Magan holds the distinction of being the first South Indian film to be submitted by India for consideration in the prestigious Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
