In a barren landscape, a struggling bathhouse is run by a blind man, his wife, and their son Anton, who shoulders all the responsibilities. Anton falls for the beautiful Eva, who visits with her father. When they lose their home, they move into the bathhouse, but tragedy strikes when the old man dies under falling debris. Eva turns on Anton, and he must navigate her affections, save the bathhouse from a tough inspection, and keep his parents employed, all while dreaming of a better life on the distant paradise island of Tuvalu.
