In a New York City park, a passerby discovers a woman shot dead in a parked car. Homicide detectives Lieutenant Corrigan and Detective Frank Tobin are assigned to investigate, despite their vastly different backgrounds and working styles. As they work together, they must uncover the victim's identity, the killer's identity, and motives, while navigating their contrasting approaches to the case. Along the way, Tobin meets botanist Dr. Mary Mahan, with whom he may develop a personal connection.
