Traveling from California to Bangor, Carrie Mitchel is advised to rest at a hotel, but decides to continue driving through the night. She almost hits a wounded teenager, Amy Singer, who was wandering on the road. After giving Amy a lift, she learns that Amy was part of a group researching a mine collapse in Arrowhead. The group uncovers preserved bones, initially believing they belonged to Native Americans, but soon discover recent human remains, leading them to a terrifying location.
