A group of hunters disguised as photographers infiltrate the sacred land of the Sukulu, where animals are revered, with the supposed blessing of the U.N.'s Dr. Celliers, a close friend of the Sukulu chief. The hunters deceive the locals by sending the animals across a river, only to be slaughtered, while the unsuspecting Dr. Celliers and his nurse are tossed into a lion's den. However, Tarzan's ape-calls summon the animals to safety, and he bravely rescues the medicos from the jaws of danger.
