A gallant prince holds the power to break a wicked curse cast by a mischievous fairy, with the help of three kind fairies, to free a beautiful princess from her magical prison.

Princess Aurora is born into royalty, and the kingdom celebrates with three good fairies, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. However, an uninvited guest, the evil fairy Maleficent, appears and curses the princess, predicting she will die from pricking her finger on a spinning wheel's spindle by sunset on her 16th birthday.
