A family's Martian outpost is attacked, and one of the bandits, Jerry, survives and kills the father. He demands 30 days to prove himself to the mother, Ilsa, and daughter, Remmy. Despite initial resistance, Ilsa warms to Jerry, but he ultimately kills her after she tries to shoot him. Remmy, resentful of Jerry's presence, befriends a robot named Steve and discovers their farm is within a force field bubble. Years pass, and Remmy becomes a young woman, still sullen and silent around Jerry. They argue over having a child, and Remmy decides to escape, but Jerry tries to rape her. Steve intervenes, and Remmy kills Jerry. Alone, she decides to leave the outpost, leaving Steve behind.
