No Country for the Poor background

No Country for the Poor

In a dystopian Hungary, the government's corruption is concealed by the escalating neglect of the marginalized. The ruling class exercises absolute power, viewing citizens as mere pawns, and a revised constitution enforces strict suppression of any dissent.

In Hungary, a group called AVM, comprising homeless people and activists, fights for the rights of shelter, social welfare, and human dignity. Despite 120,000 empty state-owned flats, almost 30,000 people lack a home. AVM occupies Parliament Square, prevents evictions, lobbies authorities, and provides legal aid to those in need, inspiring agency and citizenship through their shared sense of purpose and community.
