Forrest, an 18-year-old snowboarder, lies in a coma for nearly two years after a devastating accident, fighting to regain control of his limbs and find his voice again.

Forrest, an 18-year-old snowboarder, suffers a traumatic brain injury in a freak accident, leaving him unable to speak or move for nearly two years. Tom, a music therapist, uses unorthodox methods to try and get a response from Forrest, eventually teaching him to hum and eventually speak. Despite progress, Forrest's recovery is threatened by medical setbacks, including the removal of a prosthetic implant protecting his brain. A groundbreaking surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital becomes his last hope for survival.
