In 1986, a Tennessee family's patriarch is killed in a bizarre ritual involving a snake. Twenty years later, his sons, Duff and Les, lead vastly different lives. Duff, an avid snake collector, discovers a rare and deadly species, the Unteka, at a Kitawa Indian marketplace. Despite warnings from the vendor, Screaming Hawk, Duff steals the snake and brings it home. However, the snake quickly escapes and begins to wreak havoc, consuming local animals and humans. As the death toll rises, Les, his former girlfriend Erin, and Screaming Hawk must band together to stop the monstrous Unteka and save the community.
