Kravgi gynaikon background

Kravgi gynaikon

A Greek actress, struggling to revive her career, takes on the iconic role of Medea, a tragic heroine driven to extreme measures by maternal passion, and seeks to revive her fame by connecting with an American woman.

In this film, a Greek actress attempts a comeback by staging a production of "Medea", a Greek tragedy about a woman who murders her children. To generate buzz, she meets with an American woman serving a prison sentence for killing her own kids. The film intercuts Mercouri's performance of "Medea" with Burstyn's narration of her own tragic crime.
