Terry Griffith, a popular high school student, is devastated when her article is rejected for a summer internship at the local newspaper, allegedly due to sexism. Undeterred, she decides to go undercover at a rival school, posing as a boy, to resubmit her article and win the internship. However, her new disguise brings unexpected challenges, including a bully, a flirtatious female admirer, and an unexpected crush on her new friend Rick.
