Joshua Then and Now background

Joshua Then and Now

A Jewish writer's life journey unfolds, tracing his transformation from a carefree Montreal youth to the complexities of adulthood.

Joshua Shapiro, a successful writer from Montréal, is struggling with professional and personal crises. He reflects on his life, which has been marked by his working-class Jewish upbringing in Montreal, his parents' unconventional careers, and his own journey. Joshua's past includes a scheme he concocted with writer Sidney Murdoch, as well as his complicated relationship with Pauline Fraser, whom he stole away from her husband Colin. Pauline, a left-wing activist with a WASP upbringing, yearns for an identity beyond being Joshua's wife and mother to their children.
