Becoming a woman and becoming a werewolf share a deep psychological connection, as a 15-year-old girl, Ginger, discovers when she is bitten by a werewolf on the night of her first period, during a full moon. As her body and temperament undergo significant changes, her younger sister Brigitte searches for a cure with the help of a local druggie, Sam, before Halloween and another full moon arrive, when Ginger's behavior becomes increasingly terrifying and local dogs begin to die.
