Altered States

Graduate student Eddie Jessup, known for his unconventional and brilliant nature, conducts experiments with an isolation chamber in the late 1960s, using himself as the subject. His experiences cause hallucinations, with imagery often rooted in religion. Seven years later, he becomes a respected professor at Harvard Medical School but feels he has lost his edge. Eddie resumes his work with sensory deprivation, using untested hallucinogens from Mexican rituals to enhance the experience.
