Paul Crane, a director, discovered a tent city in downtown St. Louis and spent weeks volunteering and getting to know the residents. He was fascinated by their lives and decided to document their story. Initially, he thought he would just capture footage during the day, but realized he needed to immerse himself in the community to truly capture their reality. He moved in with the residents, learning about their diverse backgrounds and struggles. Despite the challenges, the residents preferred living in the tent city over a homeless shelter, and Crane wondered if this alternative could work for others.
