A young woman named Nam, daughter of a wealthy rice merchant, recounts her personal story of survival during the Japanese takeover of Hong Kong in 1941. Despite struggling with seizures, Nam finds herself at the center of a complex love triangle with her childhood friend Keung, a tough and impoverished leader, and Fay, a resourceful actor from the north who is desperate to escape to the US or Australia. As they navigate the treacherous landscape of war-torn Hong Kong, they must confront danger and make difficult choices to stay alive.
