In 1989, East Germany, a young man's protest against the regime ends in his arrest, causing his mother to suffer a heart attack and fall into a coma. When she awakens months later, she finds that the GDR has collapsed. To keep her calm, her son tries to recreate the GDR in their home, but he soon discovers that the world has dramatically changed.
