Champ for a Day

A seasoned fighter, George Wilson, ventures into a notorious town to challenge the heavily favored Frankie Sebastian in a high-risk match, only to find himself thrust into a treacherous underworld when his manager vanishes.

In Vulcan City, a small mid-western town plagued by racketeers, a rising heavyweight fighter named George Wilson arrives to challenge the heavily favored Frankie Sebastian. When his manager fails to show up, George finds refuge with Ma and Pa Karlsen, owners of a local motel and restaurant. As he navigates the town, he meets Miss Gormley, who is being blackmailed by her brother's manager. Despite his manager's absence, George surprises everyone by winning the fight, earning the respect of trainer Al Muntz and the ire of Willie Foltis, a former fighter and enforcer for Tom Healy. George's victory sets him up for a showdown with "Soldier" Freeman, whose manager has arranged for him to take a dive, allowing Healy and Guido to profit from the underdog's loss. But George has other plans.
