On March 25th, 1971, a catastrophic genocide took place in East Pakistan, claiming the lives of nearly 3 million people and forcing 10 million civilians to seek refuge in India.

A horrific genocide was unleashed on unarmed civilians in East Pakistan on March 25th, 1971, with an estimated 3 million killed, 10 million displaced to India, and 400,000 women and girls raped by Pakistani soldiers. The Pakistani dictator received support from the American president and National Security Advisor during the Cold War. India, pressured by the 10 million refugees, went to war with Pakistan and joined forces with local rebels to liberate Bangladesh, birthing a new nation in the closing days of 1971.
