Life is busy for Michelle, a 40-year-old wife and mother of two, who is about to turn another year older. She runs a successful company and takes care of her family, but can't even remember what she did last year for her birthday. This year, she decides to participate in the Western States Endurance Run, a 100-mile ultra-marathon that takes place in the Sierra Nevada mountains. The challenging race requires competitors to run non-stop through extreme heat, elevation gain, and darkness, facing unimaginable physical and mental pain.
