Mare, an elementary school student, flees the city with her family after her father's bankruptcy, settling in a Noto fishing village. Her father's new business also fails, and her mother takes up work at a salt pond to support the family. Eight years later, Mare, poised to graduate from high school, secures a job with the Wajima local government, seeking a stable career unlike her father's struggles.
