As a mysterious epidemic sweeps the nation, those infected experience an overwhelming sense of joy and elation, prompting them to deliberately spread the disease, leading to a thrilling and unpredictable chain of events.

In New York City, a former ad executive turned beatnik artist Pete lives in a commune of apocalyptic believers waiting for the world to end. When a stowaway toucan carrying a virus that spreads happiness and kindness arrives, Pete is infected and finds a new purpose. He decides to spread the virus, unintentionally crippling the city's economy by causing residents to stop buying vices.
