In the small Southern town on the eve of integration, a mysterious figure named Adam Cramer arrives, posing as a social reformer. However, his true intention is to stir up racial tensions and prevent black children from attending the local white school. As he manipulates the town's white citizens, a man he befriends and betrays realizes his sinister plan. The townspeople become a violent mob, targeting the black church leader and a white newspaper editor. But when a false accusation is made against a black student, Cramer may find himself powerless to control the outraged crowd.
