In the 1980s, a forger named Fritz creates a fake portrait of Eva Braun, Adolf Hitler's girlfriend. He shares his knowledge of Nazi materials with Hermann, a journalist working for a prominent German magazine, who is willing to pay for any information he can get. Fritz begins writing a fictionalized account of Hitler's private diary, a story inspired by real events in Germany during that time.
