Nick Cherney, a prisoner serving time for embezzlement, plots revenge against John Torno by manipulating his priest brother Jess. After Rocky, a fellow prisoner, is released early, Nick pays him to kill Jess, who reveals a cryptic clue before dying. John becomes obsessed with finding the missing Bible from Jess' hotel room, unaware that Nick has also been released and is seeking revenge.
