Ray Charles Live in Antibes, France 1961 background

Ray Charles Live in Antibes, France 1961

By the early 1960s, Ray Charles had solidified his position as a major force in popular music, capitalizing on his 1950s success with a series of R&B hits on Atlantic Records and his groundbreaking crossover hit "What'd I Say" in 1959.

Ray Charles was at the peak of his powers when he performed at the Antibes Jazz Festival in July 1961. Two concerts from that era are featured on this DVD, which has been restored from 16mm film and is now being released for the first time.
