Dan, a struggling farmer, rents his land to a scientist researching genetic modifications in cattle to boost fertility. When a calf is born, it bites the farmer and a veterinarian, who senses something went awry with the experiment. As night falls, the cow gives birth to another calf, which attacks Dan and eventually escapes, infecting a cow and a young couple who were helping with the delivery. The veterinarian discovers the anomalies and sacrifices the calves, but one hybrid survives and wreaks havoc on the farm, threatening human infection.
