A successful barrister's daughter is killed in a hit-and-run, and the police fail to catch the perpetrator. Consumed by grief and anger, the barrister vows to track down the driver and exact revenge. Later, a neighbor is murdered in a staged burglary, and a letter implicating the neighbor in the daughter's death puts the barrister at the top of the suspect list.
