Fezeka's Voice background

Fezeka's Voice

In a poverty-stricken South African township, the Fezeka High School Choir's national championship title shines as a beacon of hope, but is tempered by the harsh realities of their community.

The Fezeka High School Choir, national champions from a deprived area in South Africa, faces unique challenges in overcoming poverty, violence, and segregated history. The choir's director, Phumi Tsewu, a born-and-raised South African, knows that teaching children their worth is crucial to claiming their rights. The film follows Phumi and three talented singers, Busi, Nokwanda, and Zukisa, as they prepare for a trip to England's Salisbury International Arts Festival, their first time outside South Africa.
