A former high school track star, Kakeru, is on the run after stealing food, until he's taken in by Haiji, a fellow Kansei University student who shares his passion for running. Together, they aim to compete in the prestigious Hakone Ekiden Marathon at Kansei University, only to find that all their teammates are complete newcomers to the sport.

Kakeru, a former high school track star, is rescued by Kaiji, a fellow Kansei University student and runner, after being pursued for stealing food. They then decide to cohabitate in the old apartment, Chikuseisou.
