As the sun beats down, a man embarks on a mission to dominate every pool in his suburban neighborhood, savoring the carefree joy of a lazy summer day.

Neddy Merrill reappears at a friend's pool after a lengthy absence, and as they catch up, he becomes fascinated by the numerous pools dotting the valley. Inspired, he embarks on a journey jogging and swimming across the entire valley, pausing at each pool to share revealing anecdotes that unfold his life story.
