A determined singer/dancer, Claire Tree, sets her sights on marrying Stoddard Clayton, but he's hesitant due to his views on traditional marriage. After rejecting his proposals, Claire accepts a marriage proposal from a Texan, only to have him leave her after the ceremony. Stoddard then offers to marry Claire once she gets an annulment, as he believes they're meant to be together. Throughout the film, Claire showcases her talents through music and dance, including a memorable tango performance.
