In Jerusalem's Orthodox Mea Shearim quarter, the year 2000 approaches, where women are confined to domestic duties while men dedicate themselves to studying the Torah and Talmud. Rivka, a devoted wife, struggles with infertility, while her sister Malka secretly longs for Yakov, shunned by the yeshiva for being too secular. As the rabbi pressures Meir to divorce Rivka, citing the biblical view that "a barren woman is no woman," the sisters must navigate their desires within a patriarchal society, seeking a way to break free from the constraints of tradition.
