In 1780, the rise of the Illuminati in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy threatened the monarchy's power. Sándor Buda sought revenge against The Baron, who killed his brother, a member of the Illuminati. Despite his lack of swordsmanship, Sándor managed to disfigure The Baron by cutting out one of his eyes. Hiding from The Baron's men, Sándor joined the Scaramouche troupe and met Lilla, who introduced him to D'Artagnan, a legendary swordsman who could teach him the skills needed to defeat his nemesis.
