Archie Grey Owl, a Canadian trapper, is asked by a young Iroquois woman to teach her traditional ways. Together, they live in the woods, where she is horrified by the brutal treatment of trapped animals. This encounter sparks a change in Archie, and he begins to work as a guide, naturalist writer, and eventually, a conservationist. He marries the woman, Anahareo, and his work earns him international recognition. However, when his true identity is revealed, their relationship is put to the test.
