Godspeed, Los Polacos! background

Godspeed, Los Polacos!

University students embark on a perilous adventure to explore the world's deepest canyon, sparking a significant uprising in Eastern Europe.

Poland's youth during the Cold War sought excitement by forming a kayaking club to explore local rivers and avoid communist events. The club's members, including Piotr Chmielinski, set their sights on leaving the Eastern Bloc to paddle whitewater. The story follows five university students on a two-year kayaking expedition in the Americas, using homemade equipment and little whitewater experience. They achieve the record-breaking first descent of the world's deepest canyon, and use their newfound fame to fight for democracy in the Eastern Bloc, while facing Soviet opposition.
