Georges Laffont, haunted by his experiences in World War I, leaves his life behind to travel to West Africa with artist and fellow survivor Diofo. They recruit villagers for plantations in Ghana, but Georges' adventure ends in a dead-end, leading him back to Nantes to reconnect with his brother Marcel and mother.
