Irish Colonel Charlie McPhearson, still reeling from the loss of his 28-man platoon, takes a group of convicts and an American explosives expert, Major Burke, on a perilous mission to defuse underwater mines. Their goal is to clear the way for a commando squad to destroy a crucial tank gun on June 10, which will be led by Colonel Ackerman, the same officer whose troops killed McPhearson's previous platoon.
