In 1981, martial law descends upon Warsaw, transforming the city into a prison. Taxis are replaced by tanks, and citizens are treated like criminals. When British Professor Joan Andrews becomes trapped, she witnesses the brutal murder of a young student by the secret police, known as the "Crows". As she becomes their target, Joan must flee through the city's maze-like streets like a rat, ultimately forced to take a stand against her oppressors.
