Kansas City was a hotbed of jazz during Prohibition, and the city's music scene was defined by its unique sound. In the 1970s, musicians from the Pendergast era reunited at the union hall to reminisce and perform. The gathering featured a who's who of jazz legends, including Count Basie, Big Joe Turner, Jay McShann, and others. The evening was filled with highlights, including Turner's soulful vocals, McShann's smooth piano playing, and impressive drum solos.
